Traditional Art - 2018 to today

Although I consider myself a "mostly digital artist", I have been enjoying working on traditional illustrations every now and then.

When I started to  focus on creating anime illustrations,

I also wanted to focus on traditional art more frequently again. Thus I started to get back into creating watercolor and marker illustrations bit by bit.

Today I find myself creating traditional illustrations regularly again. By February 2020, I also started doing ACEO requests for my patreons, which means that I am now doing traditional art on a regular basis.

Since there are far more tools available when it comes to traditional art, the list of tools on the right merely reflects the supplies I find myself using frequently.

ACEOs / "KaKAOkarten"

ACEOs  - or "KaKAOkarten" - are small illustrations that  have the size of common trading cards (6,4 cm x 8,9 cm  = 2.5 x 3.5"). For a matter of fact, they are also treated as such by many. They are quite popular among German Artists and can often be found up for sale on conventions.

While I have occassionally done ACEOs in the past, I started getting back into creating ACEOs in early 2020 when I decided to include ACEO Requests as part of my patreon rewards.

Shikishis

Shikishi are a special kind of paper that is attached to a firm cardboard backing layer and a golden border. In Japan they are frequently used for calligraphy or autographs. In the past years they have become popular among artists as special original art pieces that are often offered for sale at conventions or as a raffle main prize.

I am usually doing shikishi artworks for conventions as the main prize for my raffles, or I am offering them for commissions. Below you can find a few photos of my past shikishi artworks.

Sketches

Sometimes, when doing conhon entries at conventions or just every now and then in general, I do finish a sketch and leave it at that. Below you can find a few of my personal favourites! I have also added in some sketches of my traditional illustrations that I am particulary fond of!
